Meet Nathan Gentry
Nathan Gentry is a visual artist and writer who primarily works with the photographic medium and is interested in highlighting the relationship humans have between each other, as well as their relationship with the world in which they live. Seeking to document the coexistence of humans upon the spaces they utilize and commune, and how we as humans use and abuse these spaces is a common focus in Nathan's work. His work often requires experimentation and manipulation in order to create the communicative experience that is often personified in real life.
In 2016, Nathan earned his Bachelor's degree in Electronic Media with a minor in Photography from Texas State. After graduating, he moved to Pittsburgh, where he completed a dual Master's degree in Media Communications and Documentary Specialization. Following his studies, Nathan relocated to Salt Lake City, Utah, where he continues to explore and develop new photographic techniques. He is currently pursuing an additional Master's degree in Museum Studies from Arizona State.
Nathan has showcased his work extensively throughout the U.S., presenting in countless cities and states. His work has also traveled internationally, exhibiting in Germany, Greece, Belgium, Berlin, the UK, Italy, and more. Several of Nathan's projects, including A.D.D., Fragments & Streaks, Our Planet, and A Vision for Unspoken Words, have earned him awards from galleries across the country. These accolades have also given him opportunities to tour the U.S. and deliver lectures on his work. In February 2025, after living in Salt Lake City for over five years, Nathan held his first solo exhibition in the city, Forgotten Maps, which was met with strong reception. Currently, Nathan is working on his third book, focusing on street photography captured during his years of travel.
