inEvitable
The purpose of this project was to stay close to my past projects dealing with people’s possessions or homes. An individual’s sentimental value towards an item or home could mean absolutely nothing to the majority of the people around that individual. However, the owner of that item or home may have stories about those items that are filled with what they feel are emotional moments. The importance of having a home or a connection to an inanimate object is almost vital to keeping one’s self-esteem in a good place. Sadly, many people lose these items or their homes every day due to causes that are "inevitable" by the owners. In this project wanted to show how easily these items can be stripped from us by one of the greatest destructors known to humans: Mother Nature. My intentions were not to make viewers distraught over people’s loss, but instead to acknowledge that people’s attachment to material possessions is as much a part of humanity as oxygen, food, or water. It is cr’t take what we have for granted, because what we have now may not be here tomorrow.
